Relationship between AD patients with TDP-43, alpha-synuclein pathology and Lead Investigator: Ece Bayram Institution : Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health E-Mail : bayrame@ccf.org Proposal ID : 983 Proposal Description: As Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder with neuropsychiatric symptom heterogenity, different symptoms may be related to different pathologies within this disorder. Although more frequent in FTLD, TDP-43 is also seen in AD. The primary cause of Lewy body dementia, alpha-synuclein pathology can be observed in AD as well. We believe that AD patients with TDP-43 pathology may be related with different NPI-Q domain and total scores compared to patients without this pathology. Additionally, alpha synuclein accompanying TDP-43 can cause different NPI-Q domain and total scores. Thus we aim to compare NPI-Q scores of TDP-43 positive and negative AD patients, and then compare the scores of alpha-synuclein positive and negative AD patients with TDP-43 pathology to explore whether symptom variability in AD is due to these pathologies.
